Kylie Stillman 'Dark Web'
Finalist: Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize
South Australia Museum
10 April - 19 July 2026
Dark Web is a work on paper created by hand-stitching glass beads over layers of watercolour and acrylic. This meticulous process, frequently used in Stillman’s practice, serves to draw attention to everyday moments of nature, wonder, and visibility. In Dark Web we encounter the delicate structure of a spider’s web, laden with frosty dew drops. This fleeting phenomenon briefly renders the web visible, its filigree form jewelled with moisture, before the sun evaporates the pearly droplets and the web returns to its discreet, barely perceptible state.
